Daily News in New York reports that Clasic Toys are making a comeback for the Holidays, with Barbies and Board Games back on top of Holiday wish lists. Many kids are picking out the toys that their parents once played with.
‘Reyne Rice, the Toy Industry Association’s top trends expert, says some classic and retro toys never go out of style: “These types of games allow kids to experience the same fun their parents once did, often with a modern twist.”
Brands like Crayola, My Little Pony and Cabbage Patch Kids are celebrating milestone anniversaries this year while edging out their newer competition.
Video games remain the general exception to the retro rule — almost. “I really want a Nintendo DS,”adds Gonzalez, eyeing the portable game player, “because I like the guy in the red hat.”
That guy, of course, is the ’80s icon Super Mario. So even the newest fads wear familiar faces.’
Each generation has its own classic toy, some new ones introduced this year will reach the Wish List for many years to come.
As computers and computer games are so prevalent today, it is no wonder Super Mario makes it as a Classic in the ‘net world’.
