Kits
Snap Circuits SC-300 kit has real circuit components just like circuit boards inside
radios, televisions, and computers making it easy for anyone to create simple electronic circuits and devices such
as a whistle chip, speaker, alarm circuit, and more.
Over 60 parts in the Snap Circuits SC-300 model let you create more than 300
exciting projects - lights, sounds, and motors. Create a hands-on experience for more fun than reading about how
these things work in a textbook. So when report cards come back with higher grades, don't be
surprised!! While the size of each snap circuits kit grows bigger, the complexity and problem solving do not
change, its only the number of projects that changes. The projects are all geared to be solved by kids aged 8
years to 13 years. Snap Circuits Jr. SC-100 is the starter kit with 100 projects. Snap Circuits SC-300 kit has
300 projects. Snap Circuits SC-500 has 500 projects. Snap Circuits SC750 has 750 projects. Snap Circuits RC
Rover has 20 projects. Elenco has made your purchase experience easier, because you are able to buy snap
circuits upgrade kits. The upgrade kits not only apply from Snap Circuits SC-100 to Snap Circuits SC-300, they
also jump, so that you can go from Snap Circuits SC-100 to Snap Circuits SC-750.
Snap Circuits Jr. Kit
SC-100:This is the ideal kit to get your child on the road to
understanding electricity. The starter educational Snap Circuit Jr. SC-100 kit. Everything just snaps together like
building blocks, and there's no need for screwdrivers, soldering irons, electrical tape or testers. The
instruction manual is easy to read, and includes diagrams for 101 projects. With a little help for the first
few, a child can easily work their way through the book with minimal adult supervision.
Snap Circuits Upgrade Kit SC-100 to SC-300:
This is the Electronic Snap Circuits first Upgrade Kit from Elenco Electronics. This kit adds experiments 102
through 305 to the Electronic Snap Circuits Jr. kit. The Snaps Circuits SC-300 manual,
which is included, provides step-by-step instructions to successfully complete each of the experiments. This kit

Board. These upgrade kits make so much sense, because you are not forced to buy the earlier versions twice.
Snap Circuits RC Rover:
Have fun building your own Snap Circuits RC Rover using the colorful Snap
Circuits parts. Once completed, you will be able to navigate your surroundings with the easy-to-use Snap Rover
Remote Control. Rover has left and right turning control and goes forward and backward. Also features headlight,
sound effects, red and blue side lights, and wireless remote control so you can run up to three cars at the same
time. This kit includes 30 parts that build over 20 projects and full-color assembly manual. Requires one 9V
battery and 6 "AA" batteries, not included.
Snap Circuits Upgrade
Kit SC-100 to SC-500:Another Snap Circuits upgrade kit, adding the parts you already
purchased with the Snap Circuits SC-100 to make the Snap Circuits SC-500 kit. These upgrade kits make so much
sense. If you find your kid is racing ahead, you can choose to upgrade several kits at one time, such with
this upgrading from Snap Circuits SC-100 to SC-500, or just to the next level.

Snap Circuits Pro SC-500:
The Snap Circuits Pro SC-500 kit follows on from the versions
above, using the same principles. Following colorful instructions from the manual, kids learn about 7-segment
LED displays, analog meters, relays, transformers and how diodes work. It contains over 75 parts, and even
includes a recording IC. Build over 500 projects, including: FM radio, adjustable light control, digital voice
recorder and AC Generator. Your kid can even play electronic games with his/her friends. No better way to learn
than by having fun. Requires 4 "AA" batteries, not included.
Extreme Snap Circuits SC-750:
This is most exciting of electronics
educational toys. Extreme Snap Circuits C-750 is the latest snap circuits from

Snap Circuits Product Variations
Snap Circuits with Computer Interface ("S" versions) includes Software CD, PC Interface
Cable, and 20 Computer Based Experiments, eg. the Snap Circuits SC-300 becomes Snap Circuits
SC300S.
Snap Circuits with Educational Training Manual ("R" versions) is recommended for both the
Course Instructor and Students. These versions include detailed course instructions, additional experiments, and a
parts organizer box. Training programs include some of the following topics: Resistors, Capacitors, Transistors,
Motors, Switches, Series Circuits, Parallel Circuits and much more.
Although Snap Circuits includes several parts that are called integrated circuits
(IC), they are actually modules containing a number of parts. The modules contain specialized sound-generation and
amplifier ICs and other supporting components (resistors, capacitors, and transistors) that are always needed with
them. This was done to simplify the connections you need to make to use them.
Snap Circuits Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Are the manuals educational, and do they have anything that really teaches
electronics? These electronics kits teach basic electricity and electronics in the everyday world using
Learn By Doing concept. Snap Circuits with Educational Training Manual ("R" versions) is
recommended for both the Course Instructor and Students. These versions include detailed course instructions,
additional experiments, and a parts organizer box.
2. Is Snap Circuits SC-750 too advanced for an 8-year-old? All Snap
Circuits products are for ages 8 to 13 years. The larger versions have more parts and projects
so kids have more to do, but are all based upon the same principles - all parts snap together. All the manuals are
easy-to-follow and suitable for an 8-year-old; however, an 8-year-old may not fully understand what he/she is
doing, so parental explanations guidance .
3. Where can I learn more about the parts in Snap Circuits? Read “About Your Snap
Circuits Parts” section on page 3 or 4 of your Snap Circuits manual (comes in the
box).
4. Where can I go for information on basic electronics, so I may better explain concepts to my
kid? We suggest going to search your terms on Wikipedia to help refresh on your knowledge.
5. What does the computer interface do?
a) It lets you “look” at the electrical signals by turning your PC into an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer. It
does not use your computer to control your circuits, only to monitor them.
b) Is there a Mac version? No.
c) Can the software and cable be used with other products? Yes.
6. What power sources can be used with Snap Circuits? Only use the battery holders included
in your set. Never use ANY other source of power. Never combine batteries holders from different sets.
Surface-mount technology (SMT)SMC is a
method for constructing electronic circuits in which the components (SMC, or Surface Mounted Components) are
mounted directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). Electronic devices so made are called
surface-mount devices or SMDs. In the industry it has largely replaced the through-hole technology construction
method of fitting components with wire leads into holes in the circuit board. Snap Circuits electronic kits take
SMT development to a new higher level.
History (Source - Wikipedia)Surface-mount technology was developed in the 1960s
and became widely used in the late 1980s. Much of the pioneering work in this technology was by IBM. The design
approach first demonstrated by IBM in 1960 in a small-scale computer was later applied in the Launch Vehicle
Digital Computer used in the Instrument Unit that guided all Saturn IB and Saturn V vehicles. (See Saturn Launch
Vehicle Digital Computer article for a description of this type of electronic packaging as of
1964.) Components were mechanically redesigned to have small metal tabs or end caps that could be directly
soldered to the surface of the PCB. Components became much smaller and component placement on both sides of a
board became far more common with surface-mounting than through-hole mounting, allowing much higher circuit
densities. Often only the solder joints hold the parts to the board, although parts on the bottom or "second"
side of the board are temporarily secured with a dot of adhesive as well. Surface-mounted devices (SMDs) are
usually made physically small and lightweight for this reason. Surface mounting lends itself well to a high
degree of automation, reducing labor cost and greatly increasing production rates. SMDs can be one-quarter to
one-tenth the size and weight, and one-half to one-quarter the cost of equivalent through-hole parts.
